Playtest II: Fistful of Lead- Starfighters!

Posted by Robin Wiley on

With the release of the new Star Wars film, it was only fitting we tried another go at our space fighter combat rules based, yes, on the Fistful of Lead game engine.Since our last game we've refined a few things and made a test simple build system so players can make ships from their favorite universe. We used the same scenario but let players "draft" their squadrons from 3 factions. Mercenaries could be used by both sides. The Fleet: 6 players, 33 ships on the table I ended up with 3 TIE fighters, a TIE Interceptor, a TIE defender and...

Fistful of Lead: Big Battles... ...or what we're calling it for now. Last night was another playtest for our rules for playing larger scale Fistful of Lead games. We're trying to keep the same mechanics for the most part, so that players familiar with FfoL can jump right in to larger battles. For this run through I dug out a fraction what used to be my GASLIGHT armies. An Anglo-French army was battling a German force for control of a key crossing. At the end of six turns we checked to see if night had fallen. I present the Battle...

Wiley Wargame Weekend

Posted by Robin Wiley on

I think I can say, based on the number of times I was asked "You're doing this again next year, right?" that WWW was a success. We had folks from Colorado, Nebraska and of course, my Game Masters from California and Minnesota. The venue was great, if a little dark in places, which can easily be remedied, and our hosts were gracious and kept the beer flowing.   Friday night, Thomas Foss of Skull and Crown Strategems ran his venerable "Starship!" game with his lovely handcrafted ships. Judging by the roars, it went well. (I was busy running my game)....
