Galactic Heroes - 2nd Edition - Printed

Regular price $37.00

Rocket engines blaze to life. Lasers light up the formless void. Galactic Empires clash. A lone hero rises up to fight for the resistance.

Welcome to the new and improved world of Fistful of Lead: Galactic Heroes!

In Galactic Heroes, or GH for short, you’ll take on the role of a Galactic Hero or Villain, leading a scruffy pirate crew looking for adventure, or maybe a troop of faceless soldiers of the Empire in search of bringing order to the galaxy. It’s really up to you!

What’s different about the 2nd edition from the original Galactic Heroes book? We’ve fixed a few errors and hopefully explained a few rules better, but mostly we’ve added new sections, traits and equipment that were originally released as separate books

Now Included:

  • The Vehicle Manual - Rolling, stomping, skimming vehicles - even mounts!
  • Codex Galactica - All the prestatted up peoples you could want!

Like all the Fistful of Lead games, you’ll only need 5 or 6 miniatures per player. You can play 1-on-1 games or larger skirmishes with up to 6 or 8 players. This book contains all the information you need to play a game, including rules for building your forces and how to set up the table for different scenarios. Most players will pick up the game mechanics quickly, even people who haven’t played a wargame before.  If you’ve played Fistful of Lead before, a lot of this will be familiar.

Galactic Heroes allows you to play a small scale wargame in the far flung future, a galaxy, far, far away, a grim, dark future 40,000 years from now, or a certain Red Planet where swords and rayguns reign supreme. These rules are whatever YOU think Sci-Fi looks like, from your favorite Space Opera to gritty Pulp epic.

So check the seals on your vac-suit. Have your blaster at the ready. It’s time to see if you’re a Galactic Hero!

Helping us play more

This system is a lot of fun and straightforward to pick up. The author writes clearly, so it’s easy to learn the rules. Another draw for us was the play speed. We are adding FFoL to our 5e Spelljammer campaign to create another layer of chaos. Galactic Heroes, 2e is my favorite presentation of the system so far. Although, I am happy we purchased the others too. We used Might and Melee for the last part of Dark Sun’s Freedom. Overall, FFoL will help us have more excuses to hit the table each week.

One of the best skirmish wargames on the market.

As I've gotten older, I have moved on from larger wargames to skirmish-sized games that require fewer miniatures and a smaller play area. If I like a miniature, I can buy one, or even a few, rather than 20+ per unit. One of the great things about the Fistful of Lead games is that they can accommodate any small group of miniatures from any genre due to the character creation rules, and some of my older miniatures have been able to see action after collecting dust for years. I've grown a collection of PDF rulebooks for various "miniatures agnostic" games, but Fistful of Lead is the one that I have been playing the most over the last couple of years. It is easy to switch from fantasy, to sci-fi, to modern era, etc., without needing to veer from the core game system. The game is fast, furious, and fun, and is easily one of my favorites on the market.
